Making a NEMA 17 Stepper turn through a desired angle

Hi, I am trying to make a DSLR Camera move a preselected distance along a focussing rail to take a preselected number of exposures for Focus Stacking.
To do this...I have connected a NEMA 17 Stepper to a L298N module and then to an Arduino Uno. I have been trying to find a video/Sketch/Library/IDE Code to make the NEMA 17 turn a selected number of 1.8 degs steps which would then be harnessed to the Focussing Rail via pulleys and a toothed timing belt.
The number of 1.8 degs steps and the number of such steps would be user input via a 2004 LCD Display and rotary encoder.
Can anyone point me to a video/Sketch or Library that would fulfill this project. All I can find is how to make the NEMA wig-wag forward and then reverse ad infinitum or make 1 step at a time.
Any help or suggestions would be most gratefully received.

I would suggest a modern stepper driver, the L298 is ancient, inefficient, weak and very likely won't work well, or at all, with your motor.

Before you do anything, post a link to the product page or data sheet for the motor. "NEMA 17" gives the size of the mounting plate, nothing more.

Probably not. The chance that anyone in the world has your combination of parts is extremely close to zero.

Get all the bits to work individually, before putting everything together. There are examples for each of the bits.
