Making a quadcopter

Hi all

I am researching about how to make a quadcopter. When reading documents about this, I find there are some questions I want to ask
-This tutorial : http://www.instructables.com/id/Quadrotor/?ALLSTEPS , in parts list section, it said we need an ESC
“- 4 of Turnigy Plush 18 amp speed controller”
In my country, an ESC is not cheap, and I also want to make a quadcopter with smallest cost I can. So can I replace ESC by an other alternative part ( such as a arduino shield, or engine controlling board of arduino, or same ) that has cheaper cost ?

thanks for reading and I am waiting solution from others

YES

Can you? Do you have that skill? Since you ask the question, the answer is "No." You cannot complete your project without buying the appropriate ESC components.

I do not think that you can get normal motor that run 3000RPM by using arduino motor shield.

You can get low cost ESC from RC hobby site like hobbyking.com
