There's been a common theme in recent years, and not just on web sites....
Have a grey backgound, rather than a white one.
Use a grey colored font rather than a dark black.
Some say, aesthetically pleasing?
Maybe. But increasingly illegible!
Whats the point of grey text on a grey background?
Anyone remember Wordperfect?
Crisp White text on a black back ground. Something you could read easily!
Fortunately, it is quite easy to adjust the text size on web sites when necessary.
Not so easy to adjust the font color / back ground to further improve legibility.
Windows 10 is appalling!
(Although, that's for another forum)
Is it possible to have a better contrast to help people who are visually challenged to some degree please?
Just keep the contrast high, we can cope with the text size to a large degree...
weedpharma:
I remember WordPerfect but I remember a blue background.
Are you comments directed at this site?
Weedpharma
Ah yes! It was a blue background. My memory is fading along with the text contrast nowadays. My comments are not particularly aimed at this web site, as much as the IDE. I don't think the Preferences go as far as allowing the font colors in the IDE to be changed. Comments using /* are particularly difficult to read. It would be nice to be able to pick a color for these, rather than very pale grey. Or maybe select another font for comments? Keep up the good work.
The IDE font settings are in {Arduino IDE installation folder}/lib/theme.txt and some more at {Arduino IDE installation folder}/lib/syntax/default.xml.
Once you have them set to your preference be sure to back them up somewhere else so they will not be lost when you update to a new version of the Arduino IDE. They should really store that stuff in the same location as preferences.txt.
