Hi,
I want to use RS232 (using MAX232A) in industrial application across 30 metres in presence of high powered motors nearby. The data rate/baud is not important.
In order to make the link more immune to noise/interference, is it a good idea to reduce the baud rate to (maybe 1200) and reduce slew rate of MAX232A inputs (at the receiving end).
A simple RC network could be used to reduce the slew rate of MAX232A inputs so that high frequency noise/interference does not create problems. The MAX232A output has 300 ohm resistance on transmitting side, so a suitable capacitor with RC matching ~12000 baud (factor of 10) could be used to reduce the max baud rate to 1200.
Is it a good idea?
Thanks in advance,
WonderfulIOT
