The MIT boys took over one year to realize that they needed a 4 layer board (more $$$$ cost) to reduce the noise and I/O crosstalk.
This sort of thing is one of the reasons that I never take all those "fast 32bit CPUs with lots of memory are cheaper than 8bit CPUs, so we might as well get rid of 8bit CPUs" comments very seriously.
