Managing Libraries

Just moved up to IDE version 1.5.2 and I think I have a corrupt library that I cannot see how to remove. I installed it using the new Add Library option and can see it in the list. When I discovered it was faulty I deleted it from the arduino-1.5.2/libraries folder but it has not been removed from the added library list and I cannot add it again as it says it is there already.

In the library list there are all number of libraries that have been added over time which I feel should be purged from the list as they are out of date but how?

Hope there is an easy way. Can you tell me how libraries work because the website is limited in its explanation.

Finally discovered where the libraries are stored - in C:\User\Documents\Arduino\Libraries. I was looking at the libraries folder in the Arduino IDE app (I did not do a windows install).
