MAX 7219 Nixie Tube 8-Digit LED Display Module

Hi,

I have purchased one of these from Ebay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MAX-7219-Nixie-Tube-8-Digit-LED-Display-Module-for-Arduino-Raspberry-Pi-DIY-/331540546884?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4d315b4544

I'm struggling with the meaning of these instructions from the listing:

If you use the 51 singlechip, the P0 port needs to be connected with the pull resistance.

What is the 51 Single Chip it is referring to?

I was going to follow this tutorial:

Can anyone help?

Many thanks

Hi,

I suspect the term "singlechip" is a translation of "microcontroller"/"mcu" and the term "51" refers to any mcu based on the 8051 processor.

So probably nothing to worry about for Arduino projects.

What does not inspire trust is that these 7 seg led displays are described as "nixie tubes" which could be very misleading!
