Max current per IO pin on the ATmega328 TQFP

Anybody happen to know this? I started to wade through the 6,000 page datasheet, but could not find this.

Absolute rating 40mA. That is the point where damage is going to be done. So use below 35mA.

For future reference, page 313 has the absolute max values and following pages have other DC charactaristics.

Not always, it depends on the exact data sheet. There are several dealing with sub variants of the chip and some have more pages. However it is always section 28.

Don't know where you got the 6000 pages from; mine's only 448, with a very useful index in the PDF reader, pointing to section 28 "Electrical characteristics".
