If your question is how much current can the onboard regulator provide, it depends on the voltage of your external power supply. The regulator is rated at 800ma but it has a very small copper area for a heat sink so it will be much less than that. I would guess that with a 9 volt supply the regulator would be start getting noticeably hot at something like 200 or 250ma.
