mc34063a 5v regulator circuit

Hi all. Does anyone know a good circuit for the mc34063a buck boost regulator that will give me 5V? I have no experience using this IC before. As far as i know i can put 3 - 40 volts into it and get 5v out at 1.5 amps. Am i correct that this is a possible use for this ic? if so, can someone please point me to a schematic/instructions?

umm... like i said im a noob to using these tools and reading datasheets. could someone please put together a circuit for me? also, am i right in assuming that this can automatically switch between boost and buck mode so if i supply between 3v and 12v i will get 5v all the way?

And what about sonnyyu's or TI's schematic ( http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/slls636m/slls636m.pdf )
where they propose a 0.3 Ohm resistor ?

The main difference is where Pin 6 is connected: before or after this 0.3 ... 10 Ohm resistor

Doesn't such a resistor rather look like a little melting fuse ?
