Has anyone used the MCP73830 battery charge management IC?
I have a board that I designed and I put a battery monitor on it so that I can see the voltage and state of charge of the single li-ion battery connected. At first I thought it was the monitor that was giving bad readings of the SOC but now when I physically measure the voltage of the V-BAT pin I still get voltage there with only the USB connected (no battery).
This brings me back to the MCP73830 battery charger because that would be the only point where V-USB and V-BAT could potentially become one since that is how batteries get charged.
OR is seeing voltage at V-BAT w/a USB connected but no battery normal? If so, this is screwing up how the monitor reads the SOC of the battery.
Here is a snippet of my schematic for reference.
