I am utterly gobsmacked.
God invented shields. A shield ensures good electrical and mechanical connections.
If Arduino clones or Arduino shields were expensive I could understand punters cutting corners.
I can't see any sense in using flaky Dupont cables. There are just too many.
At least with SPI displays there are less wires to go wrong.
