I'm looking to replace my sr04 sensor with a waterproof one as condensation tends to foul it. I see that the ME007Y ones have advertised ranges all over the place. I'm mostly concerned at the near range. The often specified low range of 30cm is too low. I need to measure about 3 inches to 18 inches. Can anyone with one of these modules enlighten me on the range of this sensor?

30cm is about 12 inches and that is too low? You either don't know how cm translate to inches or did specify the wrong desired range.
If the specified range for the sensor (30cm to 300cm) is not acceptable for your project, you should choose another sensor. Even if you can get values for obstacles nearer than 30cm, you cannot rely on them.

Yes, I realize that 30cm is about 12 inches, however, as I mentioned, I need a 3 to 18 inch range (waterproof) and obviously starting at 30cm will not suffice. I've seen the me007y spec'd at 3cm to 3m or 20cm to 3.5m or 30cm to 3m and I was simply asking if anyone that had a unit could verify what the actual range is?
