meassuring frequencie from one arduino to other

HI,
I just want to make sure I get a response, and understand, not double posting,
I put a question in the development section for the frequencie librarie, but Illl refrase it here to know I get it.. (sorry im still learning)

so, I have 2 arduinos,
one with a blink the other with the freq counter,

when I connect the pin doing the blink and gnd to the other arduino I get strange behavior in one of the arduinos (do I need some protection? to avoid short circuit??)

Is the signal from the blink, big enough to set the freq counter?

thank you

ok, so ground are fine hahah
but why do I see the second arduino acting weird?
also is 10 to 100 hz very slow for the counter?
