measure all current drawn

so if i want to measure the total current drawn by my arduino along with all other components hooked up to it...where do i stick the probes?

You measure current in series with either the positive or negative lead from the voltage source. So remove normal wire from positive source feeding the circuit and place red lead of current meter to positive voltage source, negative lead to circuit positive. If using USB power this is pretty much impossible without some external connector break-out adapter.

And when you've finished measuring current, always reconfigure your meter to measure voltage. That way the next time you come to use the meter you won't accidentally short out the circuit under test...
