Autorotation is what a helicopter that's lost engine power does to land hard but safe.
These drones now likely can't autorotate and may not have enough disk area to passively slow the fall much at all. They seem well sized for heavy power use and the props don't freewheel.
Liquid butane will fill a balloon, if you can warm it (in thin tubes around still warm motors?), it will expand quickly.
