Mechanically modulate keybord input to get analog like control in racing games

Hi,
So I am working on a project. I am making a steering wheel and pedals for a racing simulator game. for steering its easy I can use mouse input to make a steering. but for brake and acceleration I want to use keyboard input. What i am thinking is to use a motor that will spin a disk with a sector of conductive tape on it and keyboard key wires sliding on it from center to outward as per pedals' movement , so when disk is spining it can modulate pwm and generate input by shorting the wires.
My question is will it work ?
what should be the rpm of motor ?
how short time stroke keyboard registers ?

The answer is "can you make it work"? Seems like an awful lot of mechanical stuff to build. Do you have a plan to keep the wires from bouncing around on the conductive tape?

No. You should not be thinking of building a racing simulator using tape.

Use a rotary encoder for steering.

For the accelerator and also for the brake, look at using two HX711 with springs to lower the maximum force.
