Hi
i have a m2560 board with faulty usb, after replacing the 16u2 chip and uploaded the firmware through dfu, i got the rx led to flash when uploading a sketch and nothing else happens. after lots of googling i stumbled on this page , i uploaded the correct firmware as described here to the 16u2 chip and also bootloaded .. and voila .. my mega 2560 is back ..

Not: latest avrdude needs to be installed as 16u2 chip is not listed.
