Does anyone know the power consumption of a stock Mega board vs. an Uno?
So if i can get xx days of operation on an Uno board hooked to a specific battery pack, then I can expect yy days with a Mega board running the exact same program off the same pack.

Active mode is about 8mA vs 16mA for the processor (per Typical Characteristics section of the datasheet). Much lower if you sleep the processor.
Both of those boards are power hogs due to the rest of the components on the board; something in the area of 50mA, and you can't really change that without physically modifying the boards. They were not designed with much of any thought to power consumption.
