Mega2560 no transfer of Programm to board

Hello everybody,

I have switched from the Arduino UNO to Arduino Mega 2560. I can't bring the program
from the IDE 1.8.5 (under WIN10) which works fine on the uno, on the MEGA 2560 board.
On the lower right hand side of the IDE is the green progress bar. The green bar shows "full" (The bar is fully green), but the bar does not disappear for a long while. After a few minutes I receive the following error message:

avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding

I am using the same USB as for the UNO.

Is there anybody out there who can give me advice, please.

Any comment is very much appreciated.

Greetings from Germany

Peter

Make sure first that your computer can see the board when you plug it in (device manager in windows).

Make sure nothing else is connected to the board such as shields or other sensors etc.

If its a clone you may need additional drivers ( CH340 CP2102)

Some computers with USB 3.0 can have issues with Arduinos so where possible use a USB 2.0 port.

did you choose Mega in Tools menu?

Wrong board is selected from tools menu.

Mega uses stk500v2, youre getting an stk500 error, ergo mega is not selected as board - something that uses stk500 is (like uno/nano/promini/etc)

Hello everybody and thank your for your reply.
Yes, I have forgotten to choose MEGA2560 from the tools-Menu.
Thanks again
