Mega328P ISP Programming via Mega2560 - Invalid Device Signature

Ive seen many discussions on this issue but not many solid resolves. I have several new DSWY_Robot Pro Mini 328P clones which I cannot load a sketch to, nor flash a bootloader, etc.

My config to try to communicate with these is by using a Sainsmart Mega 2560 which works great loaded with the ArduinoISP sketch. I have connected the the ISP headers on the Mega 2560 to the ISP headers on the Mini 328P. The only way I was able to get this far was to connect the reset pin on the 328P ISP header to the reset port on the Mega (port 53) and not to the reset pin on the Mega ISP header. Why I do not know.

But this is what I get:

Try Nick Gammon's bootloader sketch instead.
Reset on the target board is driven by D10 (I think, read the page) of the source board, not the Reset pin on the ICSP header.

I notice it says Oscillator : off

Is that telling me I need to provide a 8MHz or 16 external clock?

Read Nick Gammons code carefully all of your questions are covered including the clock crystal... a clock signal is provided in his programming sketch and yes the reset is connected to a pin controlled by the ISP code, Not the board reset. On an Uno it is pin 10, I've never used a mega for ISP programming... I have a dedicated Uno and a modified Adafruit programmer project shield where I connect the ISP reset to pin 10 instead of the board reset... It works well and I can program anything that has a 6 pin ISP connector or bare chips in the Zif socket.
