Hi all, has anyone tinkered with Marine diagnostics using CAN. I am trying to read error codes on a Mercury outboard with CANBUS , two wire High and Low. thanks in advance
Your topic does not indicate a problem with IDE 1.x and hence has been moved to a more suitable location on the forum.
There is lots of info and projects related to can bus and retrieving error codes and examples with Arduino libraries .
If the motor has a OBD2 port then you can buy cheap error code readers .
If yes you will need a list of the ( extended ?) PID’s, which may be specific to mercury ( eg engine hours ) mercury sell a device , have you investigated that for further info ?
There are plenty of readers available but I am looking to see if anyone has ventured in the Marine side of canbus, I am trying to solve a problem on an outboard motor without spending $800 on a diagnostic computer
