Micro printer cbm1000 circuit problems

Im trying to get my arduino talking to a CBM1000 receipt printer for my final project.
Ive found some really helpful hacker resources and a guide here microprinter / CBM 1000

i also followed this tutorial Serial (RS232) port connectors. Pinout and signals for the serial port connector

except im using 1uF capacitors and a Max232 chip.

Ive changed the serial port so they collate from a 9 pin to a 25 pin. ( 1=8 , 6=6, 4 = 20 , 7 = 4 , 8 =5)

and then i sent roo reynolds sketch GitHub - rooreynolds/microprinter: Arduino library and sample sketches for Citizen CBM-231 printer although the receive light flashes it does not transmit.

can anyone help me with this?

Is the printer broken? Have you tested it with a PC (or something that is not an Arduino)?

Hi, the printer runs successful test prints but the arduino does not Transmit (TX) only RX from the sample sketches.

thanks

Did you swap 3 and 2? They're the other way round on a 9-pin from a 25-pin. Also, 9-pin ground is 5, 25-pin ground is 7.
