Hello guys. First of all i want to present myself to you. My name is Fabrizio and i enjoy myself by designing CAD projects and printing via 3D printer. My new project is a 1/32 RC CAR , i have designed the chassis, tramissione and steering , but have very High doubts about Electronics. Im new to this world and i just began to learn. The main problem in this project is that i need very small electronics to fit my chassis , because is very unique and clever design . It Will run 130 DC motor and small 9g servo . So my goal is to make a small and cheap radio system that operates steering servo and motor. What electronics do you think i should use ? I know i need :
-Arduino main board
-Radio receiver/transmitter
-Motor driver
-Servo driver
For the main board what do you suggest? Arduino nano ? There is something smaller ?
For the radio my eyes fell off on NRF24 Mini SMD Wireless Module that is smaller version than conventional nrf 24l01 module.
For the motor driver , i have a single brushed motor so , i know That there are many DRV's motor driver , but , which to pick?
And servo controller ?
I need your help. Thank you very much for the attention and for understand.
Have an ATTIny85 do the hard graft...small package and yeah. It is an ATMEL chip and is easily programmable using say a USBASP programmer or even using an Arduino UNO.
A few resistors, transistors and caps and an ATtiny with the 433Mhz receiver may be small enough for your needs. The ATTiny85 has some PWM pins you may find useful.
How much space (in millimetres) have you for the Arduino / radio gear?
I am putting an nRF24L01+ and an Attiny 1634 and a Pololu DRV8833 motor driver into a 00 Gauge (1:76) model train locomotive.
In my latest version I have sawed the PCB antenna off the nRF24 and am using a short piece of wire for the antenna. That reduces the length of the board by about 7mm. This is a photo of the earlier version with the full sized nRF24 and without the motor driver.
And if you want a very small RC system and are prepared to pay about £30 for the in-car part have a look at the Deltang website. I used some of them in N Gauge model trains
What motor?
What is your power source?
Can you post a picture of your RC car?
How big is it 1/32 scale?
Morris Minor Low Light is smaller than a Ford Mustang, even in 1/32
