Microphone for ATmega328 or mega2560?

Hi

Is there a microphone which can attach and function directly with either of the above mentioned boards? Or do I have to conjure up my own?

Thanks.

Yes - commonly sold as "sound sensor".

Perfect!

I never would have thought they called it a "sound sensor", the term microphone seems very long established.

Thanks for your help!

That's because the microphone is just used to sense the presence of sound. Not for audio recordings or so.

I imagine it's because the sound sensor contains a microphone and pre-amplifier and threshold detector etc. It ain't just a microphone!

You realize you’ll have to write code or find a library to sample the audio? What quality / sample-rate
are you wanting?
