I am using the plug-in datastreamer of Excel.

I principle a good extention.
I'm doing e.g. live diagrams on data streamed via serial interface.

I have the following issues that after saving and reopening the files, the file looses all its references. Hence I need to rebuild all diagrams.

Hi!
Not exactly a solution, since I face the same problem, but you can try to place your diagrams in a different sheet (referencing the cells of the sheet that receives the data). When you reopen the file, the connection data is reset, but the diagrams and the references are still there.
