Would it be OK to add an LED tied to ground through a suitable resistor to the TX line from the Arduino?
I want to add an activity light to my project, but don't know what the specs say about using the output line to drive an LED.

cant u add a little code to make the led on pin 13 flash on activity?
I'm out of pins at the moment - pin 13 is doing SPI...

i remember making a midi testing circuit once. but i dunno where i got the schematic from. maybe u can incorperate something like that into the serial output, shouldnt effect the midi output if split properly
