MIDI Glove Project Advice

Hello All,

Let me preface this by saying that I am new to electronics. That being said, I am an experienced producer and DJ and am very interested in taking on a couple new projects- the first being a MIDI glove with which I can perform.

I know it can be done and to give you an idea of what I'm talking about, here is a video of such a glove: http://youtu.be/2lM4VDhzxDI

I recently ordered an Arduino Uno, but my electronic engineer buddy says that in order to build such a glove I would need a lot more including:

  1. The software, or code to run the device
  2. A schematic to build the glove itself
  3. Sensors

If anyone on here can offer me some advice on the necessary steps, and possibly even a schematic or a materials list, that would be extremely helpful.

Thank you :)

(1) read the tutorial section and reference section to learn what an Arduino can do and how it is done. IN one or two eveneings you learn an awful lot.

(2) have you checked - instructables.com?

(3) the sensors, - http://www.sparkfun.com/categories/143 - these are flex force sensors and can be used for the fingers - http://www.sparkfun.com/categories/85 - gyro so the orientation of your hand is a parameter
