Migrating to Win 11

I've used Arduinos for many years, after a break of about 5 years I just bought a Nano 33 IoT and also a MKR Vidor 4000. Neither are recognizable on my works PC or home laptop. I downloaded
the CH341SER drivers (which show up on the ports in Device Manager) but neither standalone editor (IDE2.0) or cloud editor show any ports. There are 6 COM ports available. So ....what do I do ?

That does not make sense. Do they disappear when you disconnect the boards? Both boards don't use the CH340 so installing that driver does not make much sense.

The most likely cause of your problem is the use of a charge-only USB cable; try other cables, e.g. the ones that come with a cell phone to sync files from the phone to a PC.

If you go into the Boards Manager just type into the search NANO 33 IOT and it gives you the SAMD Boards, which includes a number of different devices, including the NANO 33 IOT and the MKR Vidor 4000

As sterretje says it doesn't make sense given it is just a serial link, no special drivers needed.

Thanks: I've tried different cables and different ports. Device Manager shows no change, all ports are hidden. Need to use show hidden devices. Strangle the Nano is seen but not the Vidor.
Doesn't matter IDE2.0 or the web editor cannot see any ports

Hidden ports means that the boards are not detected. I have no experience with either board nor with Win11.

What happens when you double tap the reset button on the Nano 33 IoT? The onboard LED should fade in and out for a while and you should see a change in device manager. Same might apply to the Vidor but i have no idea.

Your problem is not related to the IDE. If your OS does not see the board, the IDE will also not see it.

Seems to have been tentatively cured: rename COM3 to COM30 - no idea why this seems to cure it
