I downloaded the software onto Windows Vista for my arduino uno board but seem to be missing the arduino.inf driver file. Is there somewhere to download just this file or does this software not function properly on Windows Vista? Any help would be great. Thank you.

It is not located in that folder. I followed the steps for downloading when the UNO is not recognized by Windows but when I go in the driver folders there is no driver for the UNO

Thank you for your response but there is no driver for the UNO in my folder. There is a possibility that I am not dealing with a authentic UNO and that is what I am trying to determine. But I can tell you for a fact the driver is not in the software that I downloaded which could be a result from a inaccurate clone.

Thank you but I resolved the issue. Sorry I was on the "verge of wasting your time." I was just letting you know what I was seeing. The folder was not there whether you want to believe me or not. Just because you have done this 100s of time doesn't mean every situation is going to be exactly like yours and be flawless. Obviously this isn't the first time this has occurred because there is another post in this forum of the same exact issue that was never resolved.

I am unsure of how I acquired the driver for this board that was missing. After doing some research on what Auduino boards look like and are composed of I found that this board was a clone of an Arduino Uno but was sold as just an "UNO" that used Arduino software. The processor used was a CH340G instead of an ATmega16u2. After trying to find the driver software in the files as well as a supplemental download I was unsuccessful. It was only after I started switching between multiple USB ports on my Windows computer that the driver software was automatically downloaded by chance from the board it self under COM11. These steps were also performed on a MAC with no success. I did not post a resolution to this issue right away because I am still unsure if this is the resolution and because this is a clone. I am sorry for wasting anyone's time who came across this due to my inadequate knowledge of computer electronics and software.

Your right they should be there if it was an actual Arduino UNO board which I did not know at the time that it was not a real Arduino UNO. And honestly I did not see the post about you wanting a link to where I purchased it because it got lost in the 3 posts you made in a row. My reaction is perfectly normal for someone reacting as hostile as you. There are solutions to these problems with clone boards and if you felt I was wasting your time you could have stopped responding. Telling me that this was a clone board would still not helped solve my problem.
