Windows 7 64-bit
Firefox
Both up to date
I installed the Windows Plugin for Firefox, and when I connect my MKR WiFi 1010 the Web IDE doesn't recognize it. The Web IDE Monitor tab says "no serial port connected". The Debug of the plugin has an empty port list. The MKR 1010 shows up in device manager under "Other Devices" with a yellow triangle saying that there are no drivers installed. The guide says "no need to install anything.", and I can't find anywhere to install just the drivers anyway. Do I have to install the Desktop IDE and SAMD core just to use the Web IDE?
No you should not need to install the regular IDE to use the WEB ide.
It sounds like you might have missed a step during the plugin installation.
If there were any pop ups for permissions you should have clicked YES.
IIRC firefox might have hidden one of the pop ups so double check during the install to see if anything was hidden behind the broswer.
If you are unsure then a re-install is quite painless and quick.
Once installed you may see a driver pop up too.
The posts at the top of the forum have some good help and is worth a read.
Re-installing I can get the popup saying it will install drivers, but after selecting Yes, nothing happens. It appears that no mater how long I wait, plugging in the MKR results in windows attempting and failing to find/install drivers (and the Web IDE not seeing the MKR).
OK that may indicate a couple of things.
- Your antivirus or similar software is blocking the installation of the drivers.
Often fixed by turning OFF your AV for the install and in some cases also adding the installation paths to your securities exclusions / whitelist.
- You don't have enough privileges on a particular computer.
With Windows the RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR option can often be used to get around that unless it is not your personal computer in which case your IT department might need to become involved.
