MKR IoT Carrier analog sensor wire

Hello, I am setting up a smart garden with the Oplà kit. I need to create some cables approximately 12 ft long to run between the IoT carrier and the soil humidity sensor. I am having a hard time finding three conductor cable with the same specifications as the wire that came in the kit. The kit came with 24 AWG 300 V AWM 1007 VW-1 single strand wires. I can only find a braided wire version of this, not solid single strand.

One option I've seen that looks like a possibility is 18 or 20 AWG thermostat cable. Can anyone comment on using 18 or 20 AWG wire for this? Will it work well?

Thank you

Why not put the microcontroller at the sensor, and use a 12 ft power cable?

@xfpd I honestly had not thought of that, thank you for the idea. However I think the reason I would not is because my goal is to outfit a 12 ft x 12 ft greenhouse with eventually more than one MKR IoT carrier. I'd like to keep the microprocessors and transformers together in a dry area so they are protected and so that I don't need to move them around when I'm replanting the pots. The wiring that came with the Oplà kit is only about 12" long so either way I need to figure out what kind of wire I am going to use.

Hi @jacklagier

The stranded wire will be fine, and in fact even superior to solid wire due to higher flexibility/durability. I'm certain the wires in the kit are also stranded.
