MKR IoT Carrier - SW Power on/off button

Hi!

I'm really surprised that the MKR IoT Carrier doesn't have a physical power on/off button, so the device will be always be on if the battery is installed, until the charge has run out...

I'm trying to find a way to put the MKR IoT Carrier (and the MKR WiFi 1010 controller) in a low energy consumption state via software.
How it can be efficiently achieved?

Thanks in advance for any suggestion!
