MKR IoT Kit monitor and Wifi1010 not working

Setting up my IoT kit and seem to have multiple problems, I got the USB accessories 'no power' error, then after wiring in the battery, the screen remains blank.
I have upgraded the firmware and can download the blink example successfully, and the power lights are all on, but the MKR Carrier screen remains blank

The IoT cloud can see the board, but it remains 'offline', or 'waiting to connect'
Have tried changing cables, USB ports, restarting, re-installing but to no avail. I can download a sketch but the serial monitor shows no connection.

All the while the screen remains blank. Do I have a dud kit?

Hi, the offline and waiting to connect option means the board is ready to be connected to the IoT cloud. If you are still having issues with the IoT carrier you can directly contact us through the Arduino Contact us page and we will help you troubleshoot the issue.
