I want to use an mkr wifi 1010 to measure the pool water level and send a notification on either too high or to low levels. The device will be battery operated and use wifi for sending the information.
I want to hide the device under tiles where our automated solar cover is when the pool is open.
There is plenty of room but I need to somehow make the mkr 1010 waterproof.
Can I put it in a box and use some epoxy or something to make it watertight?
It wont be mounted under water but it will get wet due to the water moving while swimming for example.
Moisture loves to wick up stranded wires and into your enclosure. There are special sealed bulkhead feed-thru connectors that avoid this. But you will have to solder wires to the inside connection and the outside connection.

Google "waterproof feed thru" and look at the pictures. Automotive connectors are generally, all waterproof. The stranded wire will still wick water over time and get into your box.
WIFI is a rf(radio frequency) signal. Any change in density change the wave has to pass through diminishes the signal level. That is why radio(wifi) doesn't work well in water.
So, epoxy will reduce the signal. both ways. By how much is anyone's guess. Experiment!
