MKR1000 Arduino Cloud Crypto Issue

Hello,

I just purchased from from RS Components an MKR1000 Wi-Fi. When trying to connect it to the Arduino IoT cloud I go through the setup to configure the Crypto chip. After a few minutes I get this message:
We weren't able to configure the Crypto Chip. Timeout reached before we could configure your board.
Please try again. If this problem persists, you may write us on the Forum.
I have tried multiple times to set it up and the issue doesn't change.
I have also tried with the MKR1010 and it works right away.
In addition, I have tried to install and reinstall the Arduino Create plugin but it doesn't seem to help.

Please if someone can help me solve this issue weather it is a software or a hardware issue.

hi @gtech

I might have a way to help you.
Sometimes distributors have older stock of our boards, and it might be that the MKR1000 you received might be a bit behind on firmware versions.
You can follow this tutorial to help you upgrade the firmware in the WiFi module and everything should work.

Let me know if it works out.
In case it doesn't I'd be happy to help you track down the issue

Forgot something: make sure you download the latest version of the Arduino IDE which is 1.8.12
from this page

Hi ubi,

I am using the Arduino create online IDE.

Hi,

MKR1000 is having real trouble to get started with. I got the unit with the MKR IOT bundle from arduino.
The regular web setup is crashing at the certificate loading phase.
I tried to follow the firmware update instructions from Ubidefeo. I installed the latest IDE 1.8.12 on windows but I could not follow the instructions successfully. I can upload the example sketch. Tripple checked my chips type. It's a MR510PB, I select version Model B 19.6.1.
But when I hit the "Update Firmware" button I get a "programmer not responding error".
:frowning: Please help.

Hi,

I have a crypto issue with my MKR1000 board (contained in the IoT bundle). It was working fine but after updating the firmware to the latest release i couldn't connect to the Arduino IoT cloud anymore.
So i removed the cloud enabled MKR1000 board from the device manager and tried to add the board again.
But now I get the following error message: "We weren't able to configure the Crypto Chip" Please try again later.

The MKR1000 board itself is working fine, it is running the latest firmware update (WINC1501 Model B (19.4.4) (Arduino/Genuino MKR 1000). Installed it using Arduino 1.8.12. I can use the IDE to program the device, also installed the plugin so I can use the online Arduino Editor (that is also working just fine). The only thing is that the crypto chip can't be configure for some reason.

I want to 'cloud enable' this board again. Please help!

Best Regards,

Robert

Just tried it again, using the same steps, now it works. My MKR1000 is cloud enabled again!
