I would like to try and use an ESP8266 to make a game controller that can connect to my android smartphone that runs android 8. I would like some guidance on most every aspect if possible.

OK, can that be used to control the phone from the ESP? I'm a little new to this stuff...
Maybe taking on more easy projects to get warmed up would be a good start?
yeah... but I doo have a decent knowledge of arduino. I built a robot arm that i controlled through arduino, and i think this is worth my time.
