So did you google for shematic diagrams of other ESP8266 development boards (post#13).If you can't be bothered, then just use the LM1117-3.3
Don't forget the output cap. You can probably omit the input cap, because you did solder the regulator directly on the output cap of the 5volt supply.

I want to use LM1117, however the order of the pins didn't meet my right order. So it's not very convenient to solder the pins of the LM1117 to the power supply. That's pity! I don't know why the producer of the Power supply put the order of the pins is OUT-GND-IN but everything that I know is alway GND-IN-OUT
I prefer SOT-89 that hás the similar pins order like my Power supply: arduino - 3.3V Regulator giving 4.8V with 5V Input - Electrical Engineering Stack Exchange
