Monitor 240VAC power status and notify, via email, of changes

Hi,
I recently learned about Arduinos and don't know much about them.

I am planning to setup some CCTV cameras at my property that will be powered on a UPS. My goal is to monitor the UPS feed current (240VAC) and, in the event of a power loss, receive an email notification.

Powered by the UPS will be:

  • cameras and video recording hardware
  • wifi modem
  • wifi and ethernet router
  • sensor to monitor current and arduino to monitor signal and send email

I'd appreciate any guidance on the feasibility of this as well as where to start!

Most UPS these days have data output on the back of them, to provide a mains failure indication..
