The goal of the project is to achieve a minimum of 10 W of power at 5 V over a load given a variable input from a generator. We have the rectifier already to produce a DC voltage from the generator. The problem is determining how to regulate the amount of power provided to the load, a braking system, and a dump (2 outputs that must be maintained at a certain power, and a dump for the excess). We have been considering a buck converter like the one shown in the picture (the load is represented by the resistor), but are uncertain as to how the circuit actually works and how we would be able to read and control the current through the arduino. We are currently testing with the uno. Any help or input would be greatly appreciated.
