MOSFET pulldown, PWM and overlap

Hi all, I'm new to Arduino but have some background in electronics.

I'm looking at firing FET's into a transformer for a stepup application. I can use an H Bridge or center tap configuration depending on how sporting I'm feeling.

I've been looking for info regarding MOSFET gate pulldown resistors and found a few hits but none recent or germane to what I'm planning.

Now my question is particular to overlap and pulldown resistors. I know the gate has capacitance so what I'm wondering (if there are any EE out there) if the pulldown resistor would act as a bleed to the gate capacitance? If so, I'd need less dead time in between pulses, whether in H Bridge or push pull mode.

Any thoughts?

The resistor is to keep the gate from floating while there's no other signal yet. The moment you start actually working your MOSFET gate this resistor is not doing anything, really.

What you need is a proper H-bridge driver for your MOSFETs, or if current allows simply get a complete H-bridge IC (commonly known as "motor driver").
