Hello,
I'm very new to electronics, and new to arduino as well. I have constructed a moderately sized steel machine that I am hoping to operate using my uno. I need a reasonable amount of torque for startup, and most small dc motors seem slightly lacking. I've been perusing older posts regarding utilization of 120v motors using SSRs, but I'm not certain that much power is necessary. All I need the arduino to do is turn on and moderate the speed of the larger motor, then stop. Not to sound terribly ignorant, but is there a 12 or 24v motor with reasonable torque, and is that a considerably easier ordeal than fudging with 120 through the arduino?
and as a side question, if using separate power supplies for motors, can I use my arduino to operate a larger motor and a stepper motor simultaneously? Or do I need to separate arduinos at that point?
