I used to drive a dc motor using a l298n driver from a 12v 2a power supply. The driver gradually stopped spinning the motor in one direction (sometimes it would work, sometimes it wouldn't, eventually stopped for good). I checked the wiring, the power supply and the motor and everything is fine.
I only use the motor for 3 seconds at a time to open and close a door, a couple of times an hour.
Considering i don't make use of the pwm, am i better off using 2 relays or would you recommend a better driver?
Hi,
If you don't need speed control, relays would be simpler and pretty bulletproof.
12V @ 2A should be fine with relays like these: They are widely available on Ebay, Amazon etc also..
See this page for some info: http://arduino-info.wikispaces.com/ArduinoPower#4-8 You could place the relay board near the motor.
