I have a fairly well worked out outline for an automatic extractor.
Think, ROOMBA meets Rug Doctor.
I have hit a snag however , noise and weight pretty much rule out the use of a commutated motor or a 50 HZ AC , about 2 hp is required, for the suction motor.
I have a 500W kavo spindle that is totally silent up to 50,000 rpm so i know it is possible.
Model type brushless motors using ESC of this power are likewise noisy.
So what are my options ?
I am not really sure what to look for, it has to be commercially available.
And your Arduino is going to do what?

I'm not a motor expert...

I'm not sure about noise, but any 2-Horse motor is going to be (relatively) heavy.

I have no idea what that is.

2 hp is the sort of power of your vacuum cleaner which is a commutated motor.
A 2hp asynchrous motor like used on a lathe is much quieter but very heavy.
Hence the question.
The kavo spindle is a VFD driven motor with no noise , they used to cost something like 6000 new with driver but i got mine for free.
Used for precision billing and drilling of PCB and micromachining.

Controlling it .
I have i think got that worked out but the mechanicals have me foxed.
EDIT
sorry do not know what happened there.
I have this largely working (manually steered over wifi) however currently there is a trailing hose which makes it impossible to use automously.
Hoovers small/light enough to mount on it cannot handle liquids.
