I want to do a vibration motor as part of my project - my project is based on a participant lying on a bed - is there anyway I could have a vibration mat or flat plate or something?
Normally you need an oscillating weight to make vibration. That's how it works in a phone. A little tiny motor rotates an unbalanced weight.
If you have something to push against, then your 'flat plate' could be an air bag and you pump air into it. That requires bulky pumps and solenoids mounted remote from the bag.
A speaker voice coil can make a good vibration source. Find the flattest computer speaker that fits into the space available and add weight to the speaker cone.
What do you want to make vibrate - the entire bed?
Small vibration motors are readily available, as used in phones.
Yes - the bed, as someone is lying in it - ah okay, but where would I put the motor? in the mattress? would that be feasible? thanks for your replies!!
Much power is required to make an entire bed vibrate, in a way that the vibrations are not absorbed by the mattress.
What's the purpose of the vibration? A simple and reliable solution for waking up the lying person were tilting the bed, until she's thrown out
Not necessarily the entire bread - I just want the person to be able to feel a sense of vibration but confused as to how it would practically work - your help is very much valued and appreciated thank you
You could use a motor and excenter, to move one or two bedpost up and down. Two may be better than one, reducing the stress on the bedframe.
