Mpu6050; better novice "shake" sensor?

I purchased the mpu6050 because it's popularity meant there would be good documentation for it. I read that it would be easy to read the raw values but difficult to use them. This is my first arduino project, and I was wondering if there was a more user friendly sensor.

I need it to sense sudden impacts but also ignore the vibrations of an alarm bell. What are some other sensor options, and their drawbacks?

You could try a shake switch. Note that there are three sensitivity variants, you may need to try all three to find the right one.

Far easier than figuring out how the MPU6050 works!

Wow, glad I asked. Ordered
