Multiple 64leds matrix, strange behavior

Hi,

I'm running the script from brainy-bits available here

It runs perfectly with 5 matrix, but

If I add another 5 matrix set, connected in parallel with the 1st one, the 2nd set works only with 4 leds matrix (form right to left), and the fifth don't display any led.

A timing problem ?

Thks in advance for your advices :)

If you want help here, post your code here. If you want help on the brainless bits site, post your question there.

OK, here is the code:

Can you answer the question in the comments?

int maxInUse = 2;  //how many MAX7219 are connected

You will not be able to power 10 modules from the USB power supply. You will need to get an external power module connected to the matrices. Make sure all the grounds are connected (Arduino and matrix modules).

The most I've been able to power is 4 from a 9V regulated supply (couldn't find my 7.5V at the time), the regulator gets too hot & shuts itself down. External supplies definitely required.

Consider that each Max7219 matrix can have 8 LEDs on at a time drawing 20mA, that's 160mA, x 4 = 640mA, you are likely running lower current for each matrix if you had 5 running from USB.
