In MacOSX, the ports show up as /dev/tty.usbserial-, so they stay the same. Can't speak for windows 
Symbolic links ("ln -s /dev/tty.usbserial-A20e1eAN /dev/tty.Arduino") do not seem to show up in the tools/ports menu, though that might be a fixable "bug"...
