Multiple IR receivers in series or parallel?

Currently trying to build a photogate with multiple pairs of IR emitters and receivers (both of which have 2, not 3, legs) facing each other. If I am to connect all of my receivers to 1 input pin, do the receivers have to be connected in series or parallel, so that when a minimum of 1 IR beam is blocked, the input signal is HIGH?

Depends on the actual sensors you use how to connect them, and whether this can even work like that.

Then the receivers could be just IR phototransistors, but since the OP does not share important information like part numbers, wiring or code, how can we know?

Read the how get the most out of this forum sticky to see how to properly post code and some good advice on how to use the forum. Remove useless white space and format the code with the IDE autoformat tool (crtl-t or Tools, Auto Format) before posting code in code tags.

I have photo sensors that have 8 legs and a data sheet that tells me what they are and a schematic, not a frizzy drawing showing how to hook it up. Provide the same information to us along with links to technical data on all hardware parts.
