but using arduino. but i hve no idea where to start and which color sensor is suitable for the project. anyone?

You've asked before about the TSC230 - is this not suitable for your purposes?

Maybe starting here http://www.elecfreaks.com/1666.html They sell the TSC230 an even have an Arduino demo. If you get this demo up and working you will/may gain a greater understanding of how it works and how it's programmed and maybe enough to write the extra code you need.
